The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester City are looking at Leeds United midfielder Calvin Phillips as an alternative to midfield.
According to media reports, Pep Guardiola is looking at Phillips as another option to add to the squad. It is believe that it will replace the Brazilian footballer as well.
The report adds that City have sent scouts to watch Phillips’ form several times this season. The team see it as a cheaper alternative to West Ham’s Declan Rice. Which could be as high as £100m.
Although Phillips has a contract with the club until 2024, the media speculate that he is ready to leave the club at the end of the season to take another step in his career as a player.
Phillips, who is under contract at Elland Road until June 2024. That is believed to be ready to leave his boyhood club this summer. Even if they avoid relegation from the top flight.
Man City could face stern competition from Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United, who have all be credit with an interest in the midfielder.
